    Greetings and Good Wishes to all of you! We are finally starting to experience a little summer-like weather here in our area, and decided to dedicate this edition of The On Ramp to OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.

    Sometimes, what seems "new" is actually very "old".   Funny how that happens.   This weekend I attended a birthday party for a young adult, just turning 21.  One of the gifts requested, and received was a Bocce Ball Set.  After cake and presents were done, we went out for a game of Bocce Ball, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  It was a very simple, easy to play, enjoyable game allowing time for good conversation, competition and interaction.  The conversation soon turned to the history of the game.  Most thought "This is a COOL NEW GAME"!  After playing...we decided to look up the game on the internet, and much to everyone's surprise.....the NEW game dates back to 5000 BC.   Comforting to know that things are not really so different now, as then!

    One of my favorite recipes is actually designed to be cooked outdoors, while camping, however, I must admit, I more often that not...cook it indoors on my stove:

    Sticky Chicken

    2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    1/4 cup peanut butter
    1 tablespoon honey
    2 tablespoons soy sauce
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1 tablespoon ketchup
    salt and pepper to taste

    Cut chicken into 1 inch cubes.  Wrap cubes in heavy duty foil and freeze.  Loosely wrap a second layer of foil around the packet just prior to leaving for your camping trip.  Chicken will keep for 24 - 36 hours.   When ready to cook, combine all ingredients, breaking up the frozen chicken cubes as needed, in a frying pan over a medium campfire.  Cook, stirring often until the chicken is cooked through (approx 20 minutes).  Can be served with couscous or brown rice.
